Hot Sandwiches with Sausages and Cheese (in a Pan)
by Editorial Staff
A wonderful recipe for incredibly simple and quick hot sandwiches without an oven – in a pan. Sausages and cheese on crispy and crispy croutons are just what you need for a hearty and super satisfying breakfast or snack that you can take with you to work or give your child to school.
Cook: 15 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
Sausages (mini) – 4 pcs. (200 g)
White bread – 4 slices (150 g)
Hard cheese – 100 g
Chicken egg – 1 pc.
Sour cream – 1 tbsp
Fresh dill – 1-2 branches
Salt to taste
Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
Thyme (optional) – 8-10 branches (for decoration)
Directions
In a deep bowl, combine the sour cream, egg, and a pinch of salt.
Whisk the ingredients together. Add finely chopped fresh dill and stir again.
Dip a slice of the loaf in the mixture. If the mixture is too thick and does not saturate the bread well, add 1-2 tablespoons of water.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Toast the bread slices over medium heat on one side for about 2 minutes.
Then turn the croutons over to the other side and reduce heat to low.
Place sausages on the bread. I have small sausages without a shell. Cut large sausages across to match the length of the croutons. If desired, the sausages can be cut lengthwise into two halves – this way they will adhere more tightly to the bread and the cheese will better “melt” them to the croutons.
Place the cheese slices on top so that they cover the sausages.
Place the lid on the skillet and sauté the croutons, covered, for about 5 more minutes, until the cheese is melted.
Form and fry the second batch of sandwiches in the same way.
If desired, ready-made hot sandwiches can be decorated with sprigs of thyme, dill, or any other fresh herbs of your choice.
