Hot Sandwiches with Zucchini, Sausages and Cheese

by Editorial Staff

Hot sandwiches baked in the oven are always an appropriate breakfast or snack. I propose to slightly modify the familiar version of the sausage and cheese sandwiches by including fried zucchini slices in the list of ingredients, which make the sandwiches juicy, more nutritious, and more interesting to taste.

Cook: 30 minutes

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • White bread – 4 slices (160 g)
  • Sausages – 2 pcs. (120 g)
  • Young zucchini – 1/2 pc. (150 g)
  • Hard cheese – 80 g
  • Mayonnaise – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) – 15-30 ml (1-2 tablespoons)

Directions

  1. Wash the zucchini and cut into slices about half a centimeter thick (two circles for one sandwich).
  2. Peel the sausages and cut them into slices.
  3. Also, cut the cheese into thin slices.
  4. Heat some vegetable oil in a skillet and fry the zucchini over high heat for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until the crust is uneven.
  5. Transfer the fried zucchini to a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
  6. Place the bread slices in a baking dish or on a baking sheet.
  7. Brush each slice of bread with mayonnaise.
  8. Place two slices of fried courgette on the greased pieces of bread.
  9. Sprinkle the zucchini with salt and black pepper.
  10. Place the sliced sausages on the zucchini.
  11. And cover the sausages with cheese slices.
  12. Bake the sandwiches in an oven preheated to 190 degrees for about 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly browned and the underside of the bread is crispy.

Enjoy your meal!
