Ingredients

  • 1 onion (s)
  • 1 tablespoon lard, or oil, for frying
  • 200 g mushrooms, or mixed mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 150 ml red wine
  • 250 ml beef stock or vegetable stock
  • 2 tablespoon mushrooms, mixed, dried and powdered ( mushroom powder)
  • Salt and pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

  1. Clean and dice the onion and brown in hot lard or oil. In the meantime, clean the mushrooms, cut them into small pieces - then add and fry them. When they are slowly browned, add tomato paste, sift the flour over it and roast everything vigorously while stirring vigorously and brown. Then deglaze with the red wine and simmer while stirring to avoid lumps. Now add the stock and mushroom powder and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  2. Instead of stock you can also use 750 ml beef or vegetable broth. Then simmer this to about 250 ml.
  3. This sauce tastes very good e.g., with meatballs, meat loaf, meat loaf, patties or similar and with rice, mashed potatoes, noodles, spaetzle or the like.
