Instructions

  1. Beat the margarine or butter with the sugar and vanilla sugar until frothy. Stir in the eggs one at a time for 1 minute. In any case, in my experience, the longer you stir in the eggs, the looser the cake.
  2. Then stir in the flour (or half cornstarch, half flour) with the baking powder. If necessary and according to taste, e.g. When using the batter for a marble cake, for example, add a few drops of baking flavoring (e.g. rum). I don`t take any aroma from the apple pie, but I stir a pinch of cinnamon into the batter. Smooth out the dough in a cake pan (28 cm) lined with baking paper.
  3. Peel, core and eighth the apples. I use an apple divider for this - this will make the pieces nice and even. Distribute the apple pieces, starting from the outside, in a circle on the dough. With the narrow end towards the middle, the cake can be topped more evenly, I also think that the smaller the cake, the prettier it looks.
  4. When the dough is covered, sprinkle the apples with cinnamon and spiral a little maple syrup over the entire cake. Bake the cake at 180 ° C (top / bottom heat) for about 50 minutes until golden brown (check with a wooden stick) and allow to cool well before serving.
