Ingredients

  • 4 kg potato (s), peeled
  • 5 onion (s)
  • 2 egg (s)
  • 4 rolls, stale
  • 500 ml milk
  • 700 g jerky meat, with rind
  • 3 Cabanossi
  • 2 glasses applesauce, with pieces
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon and sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • oil

Instructions

  1. Roughly grate the potatoes and onions. Add eggs. Soften the rolls in the milk and season the milk heartily with pepper, salt and nutmeg.
  2. Separate the bacon rind from the jerky meat and set aside. Chop the jerky meat and Cabanossi and fold in to the potatoes. Add milk with the rolls, mix everything well and season with salt and pepper again, don`t forget to taste.
  3. Fill a large cast roaster about a finger`s breadth with good oil (sunflower seed or rapeseed). Pour in the potato batter and stir well. Cut the bacon rind into larger pieces and place on top. Put in the preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 2.5 hours
  4. Serve immediately, as a side dish, serve apple puree with cinnamon sugar.
