“Lazy” Sandwich (Sloppy Joe) Ingredients

  • Lean ground beef – 500 g
  • Onion, finely chopped – 1 pc. (1 ½ cups)
  • Chopped garlic – 4 cloves (4 teaspoon)
  • Chili pepper (jalapeno), seeded and chopped – 1 pc.
  • Sweet, red, peeled and finely chopped pepper – 1 pc. (1 glass)
  • Canned Beans, Small Red or Spotted Beans (drain and rinse) – 1 can (440 g)
  • Tomato sauce (no salt) – 1 ½ cups
  • Tomato paste – 2 tbsp
  • Wine vinegar, red – 4 tbsp
  • Black treacle – 1 tbsp
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Dry mustard – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – ¾ teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Hamburger buns – 8 pcs.

“Lazy” Sandwich (Sloppy Joe) Instructions

  1. Saute the meat and onions in a nonstick skillet for 5 minutes (over medium-high heat).
  2. Drain off the fat.
  3. Add garlic, jalapenos and bell peppers.
  4. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in the rest of the ingredients (except for the buns), reduce heat and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Place ½ cup filling in each bun.
