In my family, rice with fried onions, lemon juice, zest, and turmeric has taken root. We have always loved rice, and this recipe only added to our collection. A bright and appetizing rice dish is prepared in a pan very quickly and easily. Such a side dish will complement meat or fish in the most wonderful way.
Ingredients
Rice – 225 g
Lemon – 1 / 2-1 pc.
Bulb onions – 1 pc.
Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
Salt – 1 teaspoon
Butter – 30 g
Vegetable oil for frying – 1 tbsp
Directions
Prepare all the food you need. For this amount of rice, you can safely use a whole medium-sized lemon (I had only half) – do not be afraid, the rice will not be sour. Also, during the cooking process, we will need hot water.
Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes.
Squeeze the juice out of the lemon and remove the zest with a special device or grate without touching the white part.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the onion in it over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes, until lightly golden.
Rinse the rice well, add to the onion, and stir.
Pour lemon juice over rice, add zest and turmeric, mix well again.
Add about 500 ml of hot water to the pan (the ratio of rice to water is about 1: 2). Add salt and mix gently with a spoon.
Cover the pan, reduce heat to low, and cook the rice for about 15 minutes. Once the rice has absorbed all the water, add the butter. Stir well, cover, and leave for a couple of minutes.
Arrange the ready-made lemon rice on plates and serve.
