Lightly Salted Mackerel

In the dispute between herring and mackerel, the latter often wins. And not without reason, because mackerel is a delicate fish with fewer bones. Salted mackerel is a very tasty and uncomplicated dish! Not sure how to cook lightly salted mackerel at home? Then this simple recipe is for you!

Ingredients

  • Fresh frozen mackerel – 2 pcs.
  • Water – 1 l
  • Salt – 6 tbsp
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp
  • Black peppercorns – 5-6 pcs.
  • Bay leaf – 3-4 pcs.

Directions

  1. Prepare the ingredients for lightly salted mackerel. Peel the mackerel in advance.
  2. To prepare the marinade, pour water into a saucepan, bring to a boil. Add salt, sugar, bay leaves, peppercorns, mix and boil for a few minutes.
  3. Place the prepared fish in a container, pour over the cooled marinade, and place in the refrigerator for three days.
  4. After three days, lightly salted mackerel will be ready. Cut the salted mackerel into pieces and serve. This fish goes well with potato dishes and is suitable for making sandwiches.
