Mashed Potatoes with Green Peas

Add some bright colors and variety to your usual menu with mashed potatoes and frozen green peas! Such a side dish will appeal to even small fussy ones, because thanks to the addition of peas, mashed potatoes will turn out not only more useful and appetizing but also take on an unusual look.
Ingredients
- Potatoes – 850 g (4 pcs.)
- Green peas (frozen) – 350 g
- Milk – 125 ml
- Butter – 25 g
- Water (for cooking) – 1.2 l
- Salt to taste
- Ground black pepper – to taste
- Nutmeg (ground) – 1-2 pinches
Directions
- Prepare your ingredients.
- Peel the potatoes and cut into large pieces, cutting each tuber into 6-8 pieces.
- Place the potatoes in a saucepan. Pour in cold water, bring to a boil and cook for 18-20 minutes.
- Test the doneness by piercing a piece of potato with a fork. If the fork comes in easily and the piece falls apart, the potatoes are ready.
- Add the frozen green peas to the pot with the potatoes, bring the water to a boil again and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove 2 tablespoons from the pan, if desired. spoons of peas and set aside for later use to decorate the finished dish.
- Pour milk into a saucepan, bring milk to a near boil and turn off heat immediately.
- Drain, add butter to a saucepan and mash the potatoes with the peas until puree.
- Add hot milk, nutmeg, a little salt, and ground black pepper to the puree to taste.
- Mix everything thoroughly again.
- If desired, shape the purée using a shaping ring, garnish with peas and serve.
- The mashed potatoes with green peas are ready.
