Meatballs with Rice (in the oven)

Cooking meatballs in the oven is a snap. Make a fragrant vegetable sauce, mix the minced meat with rice and season with spices, form the meatballs and bake the meatballs in the tomato sauce in the oven. It always turns out delicious!

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • Minced meat – 800 g
  • Rice- 180 g
  • Onions- 300 g
  • Carrots- 120 g
  • Cannedt in their own juice (peeled, cut) – 270g
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
  • Wheatflour – 1 tbsp
  • Bayleaf – 2 pcs.
  • Groundcoriander – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Driedgreens (parsley and dill) – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground paprika- 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar- 1 teaspoon
  • Salt- 2 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – 1 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Pour 800 ml of water into a saucepan, bring to a boil and add rice. Boil rice over medium heat until half cooked, for 10 minutes. Dice the onion. Grate carrots on a coarse grater.
  2. Heat a skillet with vegetable oil and fry the onions over medium heat for 3 minutes. Add carrots and stir. Add flour and stir.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of salt, sugar, paprika and 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper. Add chopped tomatoes. Stir, cook for 1 minute over medium heat. Pour in 1 liter of water and bring to a boil. Add bay leaves and turn off heat.
  4. Add ground coriander, 1 teaspoon of salt, 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper and dried herbs to the minced meat. Mix the minced meat well for 4-5 minutes. Rinse the rice in cold water and add to the minced meat, stir until smooth. Shape the minced meatballs with rice into balls and place on a baking sheet.
  5. Pour meatballs and rice with cooked tomato sauce.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Bake meatballs in tomato sauce in the oven for 30 minutes.
