Ingredients

  • 3 kg rib (s) (short beef ribs)
  • 80 ml soy sauce
  • 60 ml maple syrup or turnip tops or honey
  • 60 ml red wine, e.g. Burgundy
  • 1 medium onion (s), sliced

For the sauce:

  • 1 onion (s)
  • 3 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 240 ml ketchup
  • 240 ml chili sauce
  • pepper
  • 2 tablespoon spice (s) (liquid smoke)
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon sugar, brown
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 tablespoon maple syrup or turnip tops or honey
  • 1 clove (s) garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoon red wine, e.g. Burgundy

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 150 ° C. Place the ribs side by side in a large baking pan. Mix the soy sauce, syrup and wine and pour evenly over the ribs. Spread the onion slices on the ribs. Cover with a foil and bake in the oven for an hour.
  2. In the meantime, sauté the onion in the butter until translucent. Add all remaining ingredients for the sauce and simmer for 15 minutes. After the hour, remove the ribs and pour off the remaining liquid.
  3. Pour half of the prepared sauce over the meat, cover the baking pan again and bake for another 45 minutes. Then add the rest of the sauce and this time put it uncovered in the oven for another 30 minutes.
  4. Divide into portions and serve hot.
