Ingredients

  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 2 vegetable onions, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper (s), red or yellow, finely chopped
  • 4 kohlrabi
  • Salt water
  • 1 cup crème fraîche
  • 350 g double cream cheese
  • 250 g mozzarella, rated or ratin cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C / 392 °F.
  2. In a large pan over medium-high heat, cook the minced meat for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks, until browned and cooked through.
  3. Add the chopped onions and peppers to the meat. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened.
  4. Season the meat mixture with salt, pepper, and chili to taste.
  5. Peel the kohlrabi and cut into thin slices.
  6. Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the kohlrabi slices and blanch for 7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  7. In a pot over medium heat or in a microwave, combine the crème fraîche and cream cheese. Heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until smooth and pourable. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. In a baking dish, layer the cooked minced meat and kohlrabi slices alternately.
  9. Pour the cheese cream mixture over the layered meat and kohlrabi.
  10. Sprinkle the mozzarella evenly over the top.
  11. Bake at 200 °C / 392 °F for about 20 minutes until the mozzarella is melted and lightly browned.
