Ingredients

  • 200 g butter, soft

  • 200 ml water

Instructions

  1. Mix the butter with 150 g sugar, eggs and the zest of half a lemon until smooth. Then add the flour and stir until a smooth dough is formed.
  2. Peel and core the apples, cut into eighths and cut or slice into small pieces. In a saucepan, bring the water to the boil with 75 g of sugar, the zest of half a lemon, the juice of the whole lemon, cinnamon (or whoever has: Schuhbeck apple pie spice) and a generous dash of rum. Add the apples and let everything simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, grease the cake tin and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Pour half of the batter into the cake pan. Put the apples in a colander, drain well and gently squeeze out any remaining liquid. Mix in the almond slivers as desired. Spread the apple mixture on the dough and cover with the remaining dough. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 ° C top / bottom heat for about 40 minutes.
  4. After cooling briefly, dust with powdered sugar.
  5. The cake also tastes lukewarm very good or cold with a little whipped cream.
