Ingredients

  • 4 small burger buns
  • 400 g round beef
  • 1 vegetable onion (s)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper
  • Clarified butter for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions very thinly. If they`re too thick, they won`t caramelize and won`t cook through.
  2. Divide the minced meat into four equal portions and roughly shape into a patty.
  3. Cut the buns open and fry them in the pan without any fat.
  4. Remove the crumbs from the pan and heat a good portion of clarified butter in it. Put the patties in the pan and immediately flatten them with the spatula. Season with salt and pepper to taste and top with the sliced onions. Don`t be stingy with the onions, you can go well beyond the patty. Press the onions with the spatula. Fry the patties for about 1 - 1.5 minutes, then turn them.
  5. Place the cheddar cheese on the patties and put on the top of the bun. Fry the patties until the onions are nicely caramelized, about 2.5 to 3 minutes.
  6. Put everything on the bottom of the bun with the spatula.
