Ingredients

  • 800 g roast beef
  • 600 g onion (s)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

Instructions

  1. Peel the onions and cut into strips or slices. Clean the roast beef (remove roughly the tendons), divide into 4 portions, pat dry, if necessary pat to a thickness of approx. 2 cm and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the steaks on both sides in a preheated pan and let them take on color. Then put in a baking dish. Also fry the onions in the pan and pour over the steaks.
  3. Now add 1 tablespoon of tomato paste to the pan and roast in the roast. The tomato paste becomes darker and darker by adding water and then reducing it. Pour this sauce over the onion steaks and cover with a lid or aluminum foil if necessary.
  4. Cook everything in the oven at approx. 170 ° C (convection) or 185 ° C (top / bottom heat) for 50-60 minutes. Stick baguette or ciabatta and salad are enough, but seasonal vegetables and potatoes, rice or noodles also go well.
