Appetizing ruddy croutons with a crispy aromatic onion-cheese crust will surely please even those who do not really like fried onions. Onion croutons with cheese turn out to be very tasty – a great dish for a snack, breakfast and even dinner!
Ingredients
Toast bread – 5 slices
Onions – 300 g
Hard cheese – 90 g
Salt to taste
Vegetable oil (for frying) – 50 ml
Directions
Peel the onion and cut it into cubes.
Heat 45 ml (3 tablespoons) of vegetable oil in a frying pan. Fry the onions over low heat for about 7 minutes, until soft and golden.
Put the fried onions together with the vegetable oil remaining in the pan into a deep bowl, add 1 tablespoon. a spoonful of water. Grind with an immersion blender.
Add salt. We mix.
Grate the cheese on a medium grater.
On one side of a piece of bread, apply a thin layer of onion mixture.
Grease the pan with vegetable oil (1 tbsp) and heat over medium heat. Spread out a slice of bread with the onion side down. If the size of the pan allows, you can fry several slices at once.
Apply another layer of the onion to the top of the bread with a spoon.
Spread the onion evenly over the surface with a thin layer.
Fry bread with onions over medium heat until golden brown. Then we turn over to the second side.
Immediately sprinkle the bread with grated cheese, then reduce the heat to a minimum and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for about 1 minute, until the cheese, is melted.
We prepare the rest of the croutons in the same way.
Put the finished onion croutons with cheese on a plate and serve.
