Today I’ll make some quick potato pies. Making fried pies from yeast dough is very simple, and you will be delighted with their taste.
Ingredients
For the dough:
Flour – 720 g
Warm water – 500 ml
Sugar – 2 teaspoon
Dry yeast – 1 tablespoon. a spoon with a slide
Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
Salt – 0.5 teaspoon
For filling:
Boiled potatoes – 1 kg
Onions, medium size – 1 pc.
Ground black pepper – 0.5 teaspoon
Salt to taste
For frying:
Vegetable oil
Directions
Pour 500 ml of warm water into a bowl, add half a teaspoon of salt, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dry yeast with a slide and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Mix and gradually add 720 g of flour, kneading the dough.
The finished dough should be soft and stick a little to your hands.
Cover the bowl with cling film and set aside for about half an hour.
While the dough is standing, prepare the filling. Peel the potatoes, cut into slices and cook in salted water until soft. After that, put the potatoes in a bowl, and leave some of the water in which the potatoes were cooked.
Peel one medium onion, cut into 2 parts and chop finely.
Pour oil into a frying pan, heat it up and put chopped onion. Fry the onions, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.
Pour the finished onion into hot boiled potatoes.
Add half a teaspoon of black pepper and pour in a little potato broth.
Crush potatoes with onions. The potato filling for the pies should not be too liquid and not very thick.
The yeast dough has doubled!
To prevent the dough from sticking to your hands, grease your hands with vegetable oil. Knead the dough and set it aside.
We grease the table with vegetable oil and spread part of the dough on it. Divide the dough into small pieces.
Stretch each piece with your hands into a flat cake and put 1 tablespoon of the filling in the middle.
We fasten the edges of the dough and form a pie. Thus, we make all the pies with potatoes. From the specified number of products, I got 21 pies.
We spread the pies in a preheated pan with vegetable oil. There should be enough oil so that the level in the pan reaches about the middle of the pie. Fry yeast dough pies over medium heat, until golden brown on both sides.
Put the finished fried pies with potatoes on a dish and serve. Yeast pies are very soft, airy and very tasty. And most importantly, the preparation is very simple.
