Pickled Mackerel with Onions

A simple recipe for delicious pickled mackerel!

Ingredients

  • Mackerel – 2 pcs.
  • Water – 0.5 l
  • Salt – 2 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil – 2-3 tbsp
  • White wine vinegar – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Spicy herbs to taste
  • Onions – 2 pcs.

Directions

  1. Defrost the mackerel. Gut, cut off the head. Wash the carcass.
  2. cut the fish into pieces, 2-2.5 cm thick
  3. Prepare brine – add 2 tablespoon for 0.5 liters of water. tablespoons of salt. Mix.
  4. Pour the brine over the fish. Add bay leaves. To cover with a lid. Leave in the refrigerator for a day. Then drain the brine.
  5. Prepare the dressing: mix vegetable oil and vinegar. Add sugar, pepper, herbs.
  6. Peel and chop the onion.
  7. Place the onion rings in the bottom of the bowl.
  8. Put the fish on top. Drizzle over the prepared dressing. Cover and leave marinated mackerel with onions in the refrigerator for another 2-3 hours.
  9. Marinated mackerel with onions is ready.
