Pizza in a Frying Pan

by Editorial Staff

Delicious pizza can be prepared without an oven. Italian housewives sometimes do this in an ordinary frying pan. But it is important to keep the proportions and prepare real dough for such a pizza. And of course, the filling is a specially prepared tomato sauce with spices and herbs, tender mozzarella and pepperoni sausage.

Servings: 3

Cook: 35 minutes

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • Flour – 320 g
  • Instant yeast – 1.5 teaspoon
  • Olive oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – 7 g
  • Sugar – 5 g
  • Water – 180 ml

For the sauce:

  • Pureed tomatoes – 200 g
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Dried garlic – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – ½ teaspoon
  • Oregano – 4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp

For filling:

  • Mozzarella cheese – 300 g
  • Pepperoni sausage (spicy salami) – 200 g
  • Cherry tomatoes – 10 pcs.
  • Fresh basil – 5 g

Directions

  1. Sift flour into a bowl. Add salt, sugar and yeast.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil.
  3. Mix all ingredients in a bowl with a spoon.
  4. Then knead the dough with your hands until smooth for a few minutes, sprinkle with flour, until the dough no longer sticks to the surface and to your hands.
  5. Leave the dough for 15 minutes in a warm place, placing it in a bag.
  6. Add sugar, salt, garlic, black pepper and 1 teaspoon of oregano to the grated tomatoes. Pour in olive oil. Stir and heat over low heat for 3-4 minutes.
Cut the mozzarella into small cubes or grate on a coarse grater.
Cut the pepperoni sausage into round slices.
(If you wish, you can use whatever sausage or ham you have on hand.)
Cut the cherry tomatoes into slices.
  7. Divide the dough into three portions for three pizzas.
  8. Use a rolling pin to roll out each part of the dough into a cake. The cake should be thin (about 5 mm thick).
  9. Using a knife, cut an even circle out of the cake. The dia of the circle should match the dia of the pan in which you will be cooking the pizza.
  10. Heat a frying pan over low heat and gently put the prepared cake into it. Pierce the cake with a fork in several places, reduce heat to low and bake the cake in a dry frying pan for 3 minutes on each side.
  11. Lubricate the cake with a thin layer of the prepared sauce, stepping back 1 centimeter from the edge.
  12. Spread 1 teaspoon of oregano over the surface of the sauce.
  13. Sprinkle the mozzarella sauce evenly.
  14. Place the sausage on top of the mozzarella.
  15. Distribute cherry tomatoes.
  16. Cover the pan with a lid and cook the pizza over low heat for 5-7 minutes.
  17. Sprinkle fresh basil leaves on the finished pizza cooked in a pan.

Bon Appetit!
