Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef goulash
  • 2 onions)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • 2 carrot (s)
  • 100 ml white wine
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt and pepper
  • 0.5 ½ bunch parsley

Instructions

  1. Season the meat with salt and pepper. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and fry the meat in it. Peel and finely dice onions, garlic and carrots. Add to the meat and sauté. Stir in tomato paste and then deglaze everything with white wine. Add bay leaves and simmer the goulash over medium heat for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours with the lid closed. Stir in between and add a little water if necessary.
  2. Finally, pour chopped parsley over the top and serve.
  3. This dish is very popular in Portugal. It can also be prepared with other types of meat (e.g. lamb or pork). Boiled potatoes and rice taste best with it.
