Potato Casserole with Minced Meat and Cheese

A wonderful recipe for a hearty minced meat and cheese potato casserole that can be served for lunch or dinner. The recipe is very simple, but the look of the dish is simply gorgeous!

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 600 g
  • Minced beef – 600 g
  • Hard cheese – 250 g
  • Bulb onions – 2 pcs.
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Ketchup – 2 tbsp
  • Fresh thyme – 3 sprigs
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp

Directions

  1. Chop the onion into small cubes, chop the garlic. Fry the onion for 1 tablespoon. a spoon of vegetable oil until transparent.
  2. Add minced meat, garlic, fresh thyme (can be replaced with dried), ketchup, salt, and pepper to taste, stir. Stew the minced meat for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Cut the potatoes into thin slices of 1-2 mm, you can use a shredder for cabbage. If your potatoes are poorly baked in the oven (remains damp), then you can pre-boil them for 3 minutes.
  4. Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil or line with parchment. Line the bottom and sides of the mold with overlapping potato slices. Potatoes can be lightly salted to taste.
  5. Place the next layer of cheese on the bottom and sides of the mold. Then put the minced meat. Put the potatoes overlapped on the minced meat, cheese on the potatoes, and so on.
  6. If you want the casserole to be higher, place the second row of potatoes on the sides of the dish, also overlapping.
  7. Continue to lay out the layers until the filling is finished. The last layer is potatoes, under which a layer of cheese should be located. Lightly grease the potatoes with vegetable oil (0.5 tablespoons).
  8. Bake potatoes with minced meat and cheese in the oven at 180 degrees until the potatoes are soft, about 40-60 minutes. Allow the potato, minced meat, and cheese casserole to cool slightly and gently turn the dish over.
  9. Potato casserole with minced meat and cheese is ready!
