Ingredients

  • 1 kg red cabbage
  • 1 large onion (s)
  • 3 apples, sour
  • 60 g lard or oose lard
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Clove
  • salt
  • 2 tablespoon vinegar
  • 125 ml water
  • 1 tablespoon wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoon currant jelly
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Remove the leaves from the red cabbage, wash the cabbage, quarter it, remove the stalk, cut or slice the cabbage very finely.
  2. Peel and dice the onion. Peel, core and dice the apples.
  3. Melt the goose lard, roast the onion in it light yellow, add the cabbage, sauté, add the apples, 1 bay leaf, a few cloves, salt, sugar, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, currant jelly, 1/8 ltr. Water and cook for about 2 hours .
  4. Mix 1 tablespoon of wheat flour with 2 tablespoons of water, bind the red cabbage with it, season with salt, sugar and vinegar.
  5. Change: take white or red wine instead of water.
