Ingredients

  • 1 orange (s), untreated
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 1 bottle red wine (e.g. Bardolino)
  • 0.5 stick ½ cinnamon
  • 8 carnation (s)
  • 8 fig (s), fresh

Instructions

  1. Wash the orange and peel the peel with a peeler. Cut into fine strips. Squeeze out the juice and set aside.
  2. Melt the sugar in a slightly wider saucepan over medium heat until it is light brown. Carefully pour in the red wine immediately and cook until the sugar has dissolved. Add the cinnamon stick, the cloves, the orange peel and the orange juice and reduce the stock by half.
  3. In the meantime, wash the figs and cut them in half (peel if you like). Pour into the stock and let it steep for 5 minutes over a mild heat. Take the pot off the stove and let the figs cool in the stock.
  4. Tip: Vanilla ice cream or walnut ice cream goes particularly well with this!
