Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice your choice (e.g. long grain rice or basmati )
  • 2 cup water
  • 2 clove (s)
  • 0.5 ½ onion (s) in one piece
  • 0.5 tablespoon ½ oil, neutral
  • salt
  • possibly garlic
  • possibly turmeric

Instructions

  1. Put the two cloves in the half of the onion. Let the oil get hot in a shallow saucepan, briefly fry the onion with the cloves and add the (unwashed!) Rice. Stir briefly until the rice is translucent and pour in the cold water. Add salt and cover.
  2. After boiling, simmer on the lowest heat for 20 minutes. Do not lift the lid. After the 20 minutes, the water is completely absorbed.
  3. Remove and discard the onion and cloves. Loosen the rice with a fork and serve.
  4. That`s how I learned rice cooking from my mother. If you want, you can also cook 1 clove of garlic and / or 1 level tablespoon of turmeric. Unpeeled rice can be prepared in the same way, it just needs to be cooked longer.
