Roasted Green Tomato Sandwiches Ingredients

  • Green tomatoes (cut into circles 0.5 cm thick) – 8 pcs. (8 slices)
  • Buttermilk or sour milk – 0.25 cups
  • Egg white – 1 pc.
  • Corn flour – 0.3333 cup
  • Wheat flour – 2 tbsp
  • Ground black pepper – 0.25 teaspoon.
  • Vegetable oil

For a sandwich:

  • Mayonnaise – 8 teaspoon
  • Thin buns for burgers – 4 pcs.
  • Lettuce leaves – 4 pcs.
  • Bacon – 4 strips

Roasted Green Tomato Sandwiches Instructions

  1. In a deep bowl, mix the buttermilk (sour milk) with the egg white, beat with a whisk or fork until smooth. In another bowl, combine all the flour and ground black pepper.
  2. Take the tomato slices one at a time and dip them first in buttermilk and then in flour.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat, brush with oil. Place the tomatoes in a preheated pan and cook for about 3 minutes on each side. Transfer the tomatoes to a paper towel.
  4. Fry the bacon strips until crisp, cut in half.
  5. Cut the buns in half. Grease the slices of the halves with 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise. On the base halves, put 1 lettuce and 2 slices of tomato. Put 2 halves of bacon on the tomatoes. Cover with a half-top bun.

Serve the sandwiches immediately.
