  • 2 pieces sheep`s cheese, 50 g each
  • Flour
  • 1 egg (s)
  • 0.5 ½ lemon (n)
  • oregano
  • 3 tablespoon olive oil

Saganaki – Baked Sheep Cheese

Instructions

  1. Cut the two pieces of sheep`s cheese (do not choose feta cheese made from cow`s milk or other inexpensive variants) into four equally thick slices.
  2. For breading, beat the egg in a deep plate and prepare some flour on a plate. Then first pull the sheep`s cheese slices through the egg on both sides and then turn them in the flour. Now bake the breaded slices in portions in hot olive oil - if necessary, give in - until golden brown on all four sides. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with oregano and serve on plates.
  4. Bread goes well with it. But can also be served as a side dish to salad.
