Salted Herring, Beetroot and Pea Snack

by Editorial Staff

An excellent appetizer of salted herring fillets with boiled beets, onions and canned peas. If you have pre-boiled beets, then such an appetizer will become a lifesaver in case of unexpected guests. And if you boil potatoes in the skin or cook mashed potatoes in parallel, then you will have a full meal!

Cook: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Salted herring (fillet) – 150 g
  • Boiled beets – 2 pcs.
  • Red onion (or yellow) – 0.5 pcs.
  • Canned green peas – 6 tbsp
  • Fresh dill – 0.3 bunch
  • Sunflower oil – 2 tbsp

Directions

  1. Prepare all the ingredients you need to make a salted herring with beets and peas. Boil the beets in advance until tender (40-50 minutes after boiling). Cool the beets in cold water. I used a ready-made salted herring fillet. If you have a whole fish, fillet it and remove any small bones.
  2. Cut the herring fillet into strips about 1 cm thick
  3. Peel the beets, cut in half lengthwise and cut into thin slices.
  4. Peel the onion and cut into thin half rings.
  5. On a flat, square or rectangular dish, alternate a row of beetroot slices, herring slices and canned peas. (On a round plate, it is advisable to lay out the ingredients in a circle or fan.
  6. Spread the onion on top.
  7. Rinse the dill, chop it and sprinkle it on the snack. Drizzle sunflower oil over the finished snack.
  8. Herring appetizer with beets and peas is ready to serve.

Bon Appetit!
