Shrimp with Cornmeal Porridge

Ingredients

  • Shrimp – 225 g
  • Small corn grits – 0.5 cups
  • Cheddar cheese – 110 g
  • Water – 1.5 cups
  • Cream 33% – 0.5 cups
  • Hot sauce – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Onions – 1 pc.
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Green onion – 1 pc.
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp
  • Butter – 25 g
  • Cayenne pepper – 1 pinch
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper

How to cook shrimp with cornmeal porridge:

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees. Peel the shrimp, chop the garlic, chop the onion finely, chop the green onion thinly, grate the cheese
  2. In a bowl, combine shrimp, olive oil, garlic, and cayenne pepper. Cover, refrigerate.
  3. At this time, melt the butter. Add onions, fry over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  4. Add water, cream, hot sauce, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, and 0.25 teaspoons of pepper, bring to a boil.
  5. Gently add corn grits, reduce heat to low, cook, stirring occasionally, until soft, 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat, add cheddar, stirring occasionally.
  7. Place the shrimps on top of the porridge on one side, slightly press down so that they are half in the porridge.
  8. Place the skillet in the oven and bake the shrimp and corn porridge for 5-7 minutes.
  9. When serving, sprinkle the shrimp with corn porridge with green onions. Enjoy your meal!
