Ingredients

  • 500 g tomato (s), red or mixed colors
  • 1 handful basil leaves
  • 4 clove (s) garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1 chilli pepper (s), hot, chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • 5 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 0.5 ½ cup water
  • some oregano, dried, to taste

Instructions

  1. Eight the tomatoes and mix all the ingredients well in a bowl. You can vary the amounts well, depending on how much olive oil you take, water is added to it, but you should still taste the oil. So if necessary take more oil if it has become too watery.
  2. Use only a little of the pepper, as the chillies should give the spiciness. Our Nonna (grandma) loved it particularly spicy, with her there were usually 3-4 chilies in the salad and twice as much garlic.
  3. You can determine everything according to your own taste, but under no circumstances should acid be added, so no vinegar or lemon juice! The salad dressing is mixed with water so that it can be soaked up nicely with white bread.
