Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 2 ½ cup wheat flour
  • 2 cup / s sugar
  • 0.5 ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup buttermilk, or sour milk
  • 0.5 ½ cup margarine, melt
  • Water, hot, 1/3 cup
  • 2 egg (s)

For the cast:

  • 2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoon margarine, melt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavor
  • 3 tablespoons hot coffee or 6 hot water
  • Desiccated coconut

Instructions

  1. The cup used as a measure holds approx. 160 ml.
  2. Dough:
  3. First mix the dry ingredients together and then add the remaining ingredients. Mix everything (enough with a spoon). Put the mixture in a greased or lined with baking paper mold (26 cm) and bake in a preheated oven at 175 ° C for about 25 minutes.
  4. Molding:
  5. Mix the powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Add melted margarine, vanilla flavor, and coffee or water. Stir to a smooth mass and pour onto the cake while it is still warm. Then sprinkle the desiccated coconut over the cake.
  6. The Icelanders also like to eat this cake with baked-in liquorice pieces.

  8. Double the recipe for a baking sheet.
  9. Decorate with desiccated coconut to your own taste.
