Ingredients

  • g 1,250 sour cherries
  • 1 liter water
  • 350 grams sugar
  • 2 packs vanilla sugar
  • 1 small Bottle / s bitter almond flavor
  • 700 ml rum (54%) or 1 liter vodka (40%)

Instructions

  1. Boil the washed sour cherries (they don`t need to be pitted!) Together with the water for about 30 minutes. Then let it cool and steep. Then strain the mixture through a cloth and squeeze it out well.
  2. Bring the cherry juice with the sugar and vanilla sugar to a boil. Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the rum or vodka. The liqueur can be flavored to taste with the bitter almond oil.
  3. The liqueur is then ready to drink and can be filled into prepared bottles.
  4. Tip: You can experiment with the type of alcohol and the amount of sugar. With 500 g of sugar the liqueur becomes quite sweet, with 350 g of sugar and vodka it becomes a bit more sour and palatable. You could then always sweeten.
