Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt

Instructions

  1. Boil water and add salt. Let the corn flour trickle in. Reduce the heat and let the porridge simmer a little, then stir. Then reduce the heat and let sit for 30 minutes with the lid closed. Stir occasionally. At the end the pap should have a firm to crumbly consistency, so that you can eat it easily with your fingers.

  3. Then serve the pap with chakalaka (a kind of spicy tomato vegetable), spinach or beans. You eat it by picking up a lump of pap with your fingers and dipping it into the sauce / vegetable you have chosen (otherwise it will be too dry).
