Ingredients

  • 500 g spelled flour
  • 200 g wholemeal spelled flour
  • 1 pack dry yeast
  • 400 ml water
  • 12 g salt
  • 1 handful walnuts

Instructions

  1. Put spelled and wholegrain spelled flour (can also be mixed in other proportions), yeast, salt and warm water in a large bowl and knead well. When the mixture is homogeneous, add the walnuts.
  2. Then let rise in a warm place covered with a damp kitchen towel for about 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C.
  4. Then knead the dough again briefly and form a loaf of bread. Make sure that no nuts are sticking out from the top, otherwise they will turn black.
  5. Put the bread in the oven for 45 minutes. Wet several times with a little salt water.
  6. When a nice crust has formed, check to see if it`s done (tap the bottom - if it sounds hollow, it`s done).
