Ingredients

  • 4 burger patties (parmak sucuk)
  • 4 burger buns
  • 2 tomato (s), aromatic
  • 1 romaine lettuce (lettuce heart), or other salad
  • 2 tablespoon cream yogurt (Süzme yogurt)
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise

For the chutney:

  • 1 large onion (s), red, cut into thin rings
  • 1 tablespoon sugar, brown
  • 50 g date (s), dried, pitted, diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 pinch (s) chilli flakes, more if you like
  • 50 ml water

Instructions

  1. For the chutney, put all the ingredients in a non-stick pan. With occasional stirring, briefly on high, then on medium to light heat for about 10 - 15 minutes. Simmer with the lid closed.
  2. Mix the yogurt and mayonnaise in a small bowl.
  3. Grill the sucuk patties in a fluted sandwich toaster for about 5 - 6 minutes or on a charcoal grill for a few minutes on both sides. Halve the burger buns and add them briefly so that they are warmed up.
  4. Brush the lower half of the bun with a little yoghurt-mayo mixture, place a lettuce leaf and a sucuk patty on top, add a full teaspoon of chutney and 1-2 tomato slices, place the upper half of the bun on top and serve immediately.
  5. Tip: If you don`t like date chutney or don`t have time to make it, you can replace it with a slice of Kaşar cheese.
