Ingredients

  • 500 g plums
  • 250 g white bread, diced (stale from the day before) or rolls
  • 0.25 liter ¼ milk, (hot)
  • 80 grams flour
  • 3 egg (s), (M)
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • Oil or lard to fry
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the plums and rub dry again. Stone and cut into small pieces.
  2. Put the white bread cubes in a bowl, pour the hot milk over it and let it steep for about 15 minutes.
  3. Then squeeze out the bread cubes well, pouring off any excess liquid. Add the flour, eggs, salt and the plum pieces and mix everything well with a wooden spoon.
  4. Cut off long dumplings from the mixture with a tablespoon and fry in hot lard or oil in a high pan.
  5. You can eat the Knöpfle pure with powdered sugar or with melted butter or a cold vanilla sauce.
