Ingredients

  • 2 small turnip (s), or 1 large one
  • 8 medium carrot (s)
  • 6 large potato (s)
  • 0.5 liter ½ meat broth
  • 2 tablespoon rapeseed oil or sunflower oil
  • 500 g smoked pork, neck or salmon roast, in pieces or slices)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Peel the turnips and cut into cubes. Heat the oil in a large saucepan (approx. 5-6 liters) and sauté the diced swede in it for approx. 10 minutes. Don`t forget to stir, otherwise the cubes will set. Peel and dice the carrots and potatoes and add to the turnips. Steam for about 5 minutes. Then add the meat broth. Stir and put the meat on top and let everything simmer for about 45 minutes on medium heat.
  2. Remove the meat and cut into smaller pieces if necessary. Use a pounder (not a hand blender, because it has to remain a bit chunky) to make the pulp, carrot and potato cubes. Then season to taste with salt, pepper and sugar. Add the meat again and reheat briefly.
  3. If you like, you can also eat Mettenden with it.
