Instructions

  1. Peel the onions and cut them into rings that are not too thin (then weigh them) - these can be up to 1 cm wide. Then place them in a heatproof bowl.
  2. Bring the vinegar, sugar and salt to a boil in a saucepan. Stir constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved. While hot, pour over the onions and stir briefly. Let it stand like this until it has cooled down, the onions will then turn pink in the meantime.
  3. Then put everything in a larger screw-top jar and put it in the refrigerator, where it can be kept for up to two months without any problems. The onions are very fine with a snack or pan-fried meat.

About Editorial Staff

The Boss Kitchen editorial staff oversees content review, fact-checking, and recipe verification across the site. Published articles pass through the editorial team before going live, ensuring ingredient lists, techniques, cooking times, and nutritional claims hold up in a home kitchen. The team coordinates contributions across the site writers, handles reader corrections, and maintains consistency in measurement conventions, safety guidance, and dietary labeling. Posts under this byline typically represent team-reviewed reference material, site announcements, or editorial roundups rather than individual-author features, and they are held to the same sourcing standards as bylined recipe and product coverage.
