Sweet Bread with Dried Apricots and Walnuts

Such sweet bread can be served with tea with jam or sweet sauce.

Ingredients

  • Dried apricots – 200 g
  • Walnut (chopped) – 1/2 cup
  • Baking powder – 1 1/2 teaspoon
  • Soda – 1 teaspoon.
  • Flour – 2 1/2 cups
  • Sugar – 1 1/4 cups
  • Margarine or butter – 3/4 cup
  • Sour milk – 250 g
  • Large eggs (slightly beaten) – 3 pcs.
  • Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Grease a metal bread pan with butter. Chop dried apricots and nuts. Set aside. In a large bowl, combine baking powder, baking soda, 2 cups flour, and 1 cup sugar. In a blender, grind 1/2 cup of margarine with flour mixture until smooth (you should get a mass of crumbs).
  2. Add sour milk, eggs, and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Pour dried apricots and nuts into the resulting mass. Mix well, pour into the prepared mold.
  3. Prepare powder. In a bowl, mix the remaining 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 cup softened margarine by hand. The mass should be completely crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle crumbs over the top of the bread. Bake 60-70 minutes until tender. Cool the finished bread on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from the mold, leave on a wire rack until completely cooled.
