Instructions

  1. Finely chop the onion and sauté in a little oil or butter until translucent.
  2. (If you use a garlic clove instead of garlic granules, you should also finely chop it, but only add it at the end and only sauté briefly as it burns quickly)
  3. Add the tomato paste and let it roast briefly. Add the passed tomatoes, chunky or whole, and stir everything well.
  4. Now add the orange or lemon juice, garlic granules (if no garlic clove is used), sugar, salt, nutmeg, marjoram, oregano, pepper and paprika and bring everything to a boil.
  5. Now simmer at the lowest level, stirring occasionally, until almost all the liquid has boiled away and the tomato sauce is really thick, similar to tomato paste.
  6. The amount is enough for 4 round pizzas or 2 sheets of pizza.
  7. But the sauce also tastes very good with pasta or rice, if you just want to make it a little thinner again.
  8. It is also a delicious spread on bread!
