Tortilla with Tomatoes and Garlic

by Editorial Staff

It happens so – like a simple recipe, an ordinary dish, but the taste is surprising! This is our stuffed flatbread today, and the view is very appetizing! I tried it for you! Cook for health!

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • Kefir (room temperature) – 190 ml
  • Flour – 200 g
  • Dry yeast – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil – 1-2 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 0.5 teaspoon

For filling:

  • Tomatoes – 1-2 pcs.
  • Garlic – 2-3 cloves
  • Vegetable oil – 5-6 tbsp
  • Fresh thyme – 1 sprig
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Salt (sea salt, with herbs) – to taste

Directions

  1. Pour kefir (room temperature) into a large bowl, add sugar, yeast, a little flour (about 1 tablespoon). Stir and leave for 2-3 minutes to activate the yeast.
  2. Then add the rest of the flour, salt and start the dough. We knead for a few minutes. Collect the dough into a lump, add a spoonful of vegetable oil and knead a little more. The dough remains sticky, but that’s okay.
  3. Put the yeast dough in a cup, cover with foil and leave it to lie down – come up for 30 minutes.
  4. Now is the time to prepare the filling.
Making fragrant oil. To do this, add sea salt (I have herbs), black ground pepper, a clove of garlic, cut in half, and thyme to the vegetable oil. Stir and let it brew for 15 minutes.
  5. Finely chop the remaining garlic and cut the tomatoes into slices.
  6. Sprinkle a little flour on the table, lay out the dough and divide into two equal parts (mine are 190 g each).
  7. Round each part of the dough and roll it into flat cakes.
We grease one cake well with fragrant vegetable oil.
  8. Put tomatoes and garlic on top of a greased cake. If you wish, you can add salt, I just lightly greased it with fragrant oil.
  9. Cover the tortilla with tomatoes and garlic with the second tortilla, pinch the edges well. Lubricate the top of the second cake with fragrant oil and let it sit for a few minutes while the oven heats up.
  10. Grease the rack (from the oven), on which we will bake the cake, with vegetable oil. Gently transfer the cake with tomatoes and garlic to the wire rack and leave for 5-7 minutes while the oven warms up.
  11. If the cake was laid out on the wire rack with the unlubricated side up, then before baking, grease the cake on top with the remains of aromatic oil.
We bake the cake in the oven at a temperature of 180 degrees until an appetizing golden color (our oven baked for 22 minutes).
  12. It turns out that the stuffed cake is unusual in appearance and awesome in taste! Be sure to try cooking! I’ll add some cheese next time.

Bon Appetit!
