Ingredients

  • 100 g nuts
  • 360 g flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ clove powder
  • 2 pinches nutmeg
  • 2 pinches cardamom
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 160 g butter, soft
  • 200 g suar, brown
  • 50 grams sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • 8 drops vanilla flavor
  • 3 large egg (s)
  • 500 g applesauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C top / bottom heat. Line a deep tray with paper and place a baking frame around it (not necessary if the tray is high enough). Roughly chop the nuts.
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda and the spices in a bowl. In another bowl, stir the butter with the sugars and the aroma until creamy. Add the eggs one by one and stir in. Stir in the applesauce. Add the flour mixture and keep stirring until everything is well mixed. Finally fold in the nuts. Spread the dough on the baking sheet and smooth it out. Bake on the middle rack for about 30 - 35 minutes.
  3. When cooled, brush with an egg white, powdered sugar and cinnamon glaze and decorate as desired. Possibly add a few drops of bitter almond flavor.
  4. You can also just sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
  5. Raisins pickled in rum are also suitable instead of nuts.
  6. It is best to leave it wrapped in foil for one night.
  7. Instead of cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, you can add 2 packs of Christmas flavor or some gingerbread spice to the dough.
