Instructions

  1. Put the canned kidney beans in a sieve, rinse thoroughly under running water and drain well.
  2. Peel the onions and garlic and cut into very fine cubes.
  3. Mash the beans in a bowl (the easiest way to do this is with a fork). Add the onions, garlic, paprika powder, breadcrumbs and the egg in the following order. Season the mixture with salt and pepper and mix well with the mixer (dough hook). Finally fold in the grated cheese. If you like, you can refine the patties with fresh herbs or spices such as curry, chili powder, etc.
  4. Heat some oil in a pan.
  5. Dust your hands with a little flour and compress the mixture like a snowball and then shape four balls of the same size and press flat with a spatula and shape into patties, meatballs or sausages.
  6. Fry them in hot fat on both sides for about 12 minutes until they are dark brown. Turn several times, possibly 3 minutes per side. Then remove the patties from the hot fat and drain well on some kitchen paper.
  7. It goes well with fried potatoes in the closed pan (like in my picture).
  8. Tip:
  9. Breadcrumbs can be made from 2-4 slices of toast (double / triple toast).
  10. Instead of grated Gouda you can also chop 4 slices.
