Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 250 g flour, (semi-white flour)
  • 500 g flour, (white flour)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 ½ cube yeast, crumbled
  • 25 g butter, soft
  • 2 dl water mixed with milk

For painting:

  • 2 egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Mix all the dough ingredients together and knead into a soft, smooth dough. Knead by hand for about 10 minutes with the hand mixer for about 5 minutes or with the food processor for about 4 minutes. Cover and let rise until the volume has doubled, at room temperature for about 1 hour.
  2. Shape the dough into 14 Weggli (rolls) and let rise for another 20-40 minutes. Brush with egg yolk before cutting and baking. Bake for 20-25 minutes in the middle of the oven preheated to 200 degrees.
  3. The Weggli can be changed as desired: olives (100 g) and tomatoes (3 dried ones), ham or bacon (200 g), 1 onion and Gruyere (100 g).
  4. Chocolate cubes (100 g), vanilla sugar (1 teaspoon), sugar (2 tablespoon), dried apricots (100 g), rum (3 tablespoon), baking marzipan (80 g).
