Ingredients

  • 125 g butter or mararine
  • 50 g powdered suar
  • 60 g flour
  • 125 g cornstarch
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar (bourbon)
  • 1 tablespoon anise, ground
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Beat the butter and powdered sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until creamy and light.
  2. Sift together the flour, cornstarch, vanilla sugar, and ground anise.
  3. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the butter mixture and stir until combined.
  4. Add 1-2 tablespoons of ice-cold water and knead until you have a smooth dough.
  5. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Shape the dough into cherry-sized balls and place them on two baking sheets lined with baking paper.
  7. Lightly flatten each ball with a fork.
  8. Preheat the oven to 175 °C (347 °F).
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  10. Cool for 2-3 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar.
