Ingredients

  • 1 kg apples, sour
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 125 ml vinegar, (honey vinegar or mild white wine vinegar)
  • 20 g horseradish, freshly rated

Instructions

  1. Peel and core the apples and cut into small cubes. Mix with the sugar and salt and let stand for about 1 hour until the fruit draws water.
  2. Add the vinegar and bring everything to the boil once, then slowly reduce to a low heat. Don`t forget to stir regularly!
  3. In the meantime, peel the horseradish and grate it very finely.
  4. As soon as the apples have boiled down thickly, stir in the freshly grated horseradish. Season to taste with horseradish, salt and / or sugar.
  5. Fill jars while still hot and close immediately.
  6. The apple horseradish tastes good with cold roasts, boiled beef or smoked fish.
