Instructions

  1. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 unpeeled garlic clove to flavor the oil.
  2. Place 4 hip steaks in the pan with minimal oil. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 63°C (145°F).
  3. While the steaks cook, peel the avocado and place the pieces in a mixing bowl. Add 2 peeled garlic cloves, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  4. Puree the avocado mixture with a hand blender until smooth.
  5. Spread the avocado puree evenly on the 8 slices of toast.
  6. Top each slice with a hip steak.
  7. Serve as a main course lunch without side dishes, or pair with roasted potato wedges or baked potatoes if desired.
  8. Alternative method: Grill the toasts and hip steaks instead of frying in a pan.
