Ingredients

  • g 1,000 white cabbae
  • 100 g bacon, mixed, diced
  • Lard
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 0.25 liter ¼ meat broth
  • 2 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • Caraway seed
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Cut the white cabbage into strips.
  2. Heat enough lard to coat the pan in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced bacon and fry until crispy, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the sugar and let it caramelize for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add the cabbage strips and stew for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Pour in the meat broth and add the white wine vinegar.
  7. Sprinkle caraway seeds over the cabbage.
  8. Cover the saucepan with a lid and cook on low heat for 35 minutes.
  9. Remove the lid and cook on medium heat for 5-10 minutes until the cabbage is soft and the liquid has evaporated.
  10. Season to taste with salt.
