Ingredients

  • 750 g blackberries
  • 250 g elderberries
  • 400 g suar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 1 bottle red wine, drier, e.g. Dornfelder
  • 1 bottle schnapps, (grain or vodka (38%))

Instructions

  1. Wash the blackberries and elderberries, sort them, and place in a saucepan.
  2. Add the sugar and vanilla sugar to the berries.
  3. Pour in the red wine.
  4. Heat over medium-high until the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  5. Let the mixture steep for 24 hours.
  6. After 24 hours, add the schnapps and stir well to combine.
  7. Pour the mixture through a cloth filter into clean bottles, allowing the liquid to drain without squeezing the berries.
  8. Seal and store the liqueur in the bottles.
