I always thought that meatballs were fried or baked in the oven. And I tried the Polish recipe for meatballs boiled in vegetable broth with sour cream sauce, and I really liked it! Fragrant meat balls and a lot of delicious sauce!
Ingredients
Minced meat – 500 g
Bulb onions – 1 pc.
Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper – to taste
Egg – 1 pc.
Flour – 2 tbsp
Dill greens (dried or fresh) – 2-3 teaspoon *
For the sauce:
Butter – 1 teaspoon
Flour – 2 tbsp
Vegetable broth – 1 cup (200 ml)
Sour cream – 150 ml
Water – 50 ml
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper – to taste
Dill greens (dried or fresh) – 1-2 tbsp *
For vegetable broth:
Bulb onions – 0.5 pcs.
Carrots – 0.5 pcs.
Fresh greens (optional) – to taste
Salt to taste
Water – 1-1.5
Directions
Lightly fry the onion, diced in a little vegetable oil, until golden brown.
We send the fried onions to the minced meat, mix.
Add flour, egg, salt, black pepper and a little dried or fresh dill to this. Mix well.
We form the meatballs. Moisten your hands with water – it will be more convenient to work with minced meat, and the meatballs will turn out to be even.
Boil the meatballs in vegetable broth (water, onions, carrots, herbs and salt) for 5 minutes after boiling.
At this time, we prepare the sauce. In a frying pan in a small amount of butter, heat the flour, stirring well so that there are no lumps. Fry until light golden brown and a “nutty” aroma.
Add vegetable broth, dill, salt and pepper to taste. Dilute sour cream with water and add to the sauce.
We send the finished meatballs to the sauce simmered over low heat. Mix everything well, and the dish is ready!
Mashed potatoes are perfect for garnish with boiled meatballs with sour cream sauce – I do that! You can choose any side dish you like.
Bon Appetit!
