Ingredients

  • 600 g beef roulade (s)
  • 3 onion (s)
  • 3 tomato (s)
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 4 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 liter ½ water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 bunch parsley

Instructions

  1. Wash the meat, pat dry and cut into small cutlets. Season with salt and pepper. Peel the onions and cut into strips. Wash tomatoes and cut into small cubes. Wash and finely chop the parsley.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large saucepan. Fry the meat briefly on both sides in portions and remove. Pour olive oil into the frying fat, sauté the onions, then add the tomatoes and sauté briefly. Put the meat back in and deglaze with about 1/2 liter of water. Add bay leaves and let everything stew on a low flame for approx. 1 hour with the lid closed. Possibly add a little more water in between. Finally, season the sauce with salt and pepper and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  3. Potatoes or rice and salad go well with it.
  4. Portuguese cuisine is simple and down to earth. I copied this dish from my mother-in-law. Usually it is almost impossible to make dishes like this at home in the same way. But in this case I succeeded!
